Christmas was 6 days ago. I am finally catching my breath from a whirlwind of activity.
Most of the activity was planned, but there were added surprises and trials.
I don't know if I want to review it play by play. Suffice it to say I was desiring Jesus to be born again in my heart on Christmas, so that I could love Him evermore.
But by 5 days after Christmas, I was wondering if I had completely missed Him coming.
Instead, Christmas felt more like a martyrdom to me. There was plenty of tears and sorrow. Oh yes, there was joy.......but the sorrow surprised me.
Then last night, the end of my work week, and heading off to another family function, God performed heart surgery on me. He gave me a heart of flesh and filled it with love.
I had been praying for a pure heart for several days. Praise be to Jesus!
But the new knowledge that I have been given a 'kiss' from the Manger, where our Newborn King lies, hidden within all the suffering of the past week, is my Epiphany.

The Prophet Malachi
Todays, December 23, first reading is from the Prophet Malachi 3: 1-4, 23-34.
"Lo I will send you Elijah the prophet,
Before the day of the Lord come,
the great and terrible day,
To turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,
and the hearts of the children to their fathers,
Lest I come and strike the land with doom."
I briefly meditated about this and though how sorely we need fathers to cherish their children. Abortion, promiscuity, child abandonment by fathers, is wreaking havoc on families.
Fathers need to have their hearts turned to their children.
Children don't want the next toy, they want time with their daddys.
Working with a senior population, I am all too aware of elder neglect. So many seniors I know are yearning for time with their children. But the children, now adults, are too busy.
And so now the hearts of children need to be turned back to their fathers, and mothers, as well.
Come Lord and heal all hearts.

There is a feeling of anticipation in the air of some big spiritual chastisement waiting to happen. I am not the only one to feel this.
But maybe it will not be big, but small.
The Jews expected a noble king on a white horse to come and save them. Instead a Baby came.
Elijah waited in a cave for God to go by. But God was not in the wind or the earthquake, but in a whisper.
So just maybe, Jesus' return will be in small glimpses here and there, until every knee bows and every tongue can confess that He is Lord of all creation, and King of all hearts.
But maybe it will not be big, but small.

The Chapel
It was a normal day at work. I was going to meet my family at the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel at our parish, St. Mel. But on the way home I felt such a load and weight of sorrow for many different things. I could have cried. My chest hurt, too. So I held my rosary as I drove, both hands still on the steering wheel. I was listening to Fr. Groeschel say the Sorrowful Mysteries and I was so moved.
As soon as I walked into the Chapel and gazed upon the Monstrance with Jesus exposed,
all my burdens and sorrow were gone, as well as the pain in my chest. I felt complete and utter peace.
Normally I smile broadly when I see Him there. Lately, I have been so sober, serious, and sad. But tonight I gave Jesus all of me, like He gave me all of Himself. And then I gave Him the biggest, most joyful smile I could.
As soon as I walked into the Chapel and gazed upon the Monstrance with Jesus exposed,

Scrooge
Call me Scrooge if you want, but I am getting really tired of this whole secular Christmas stuff.
I am tired of buying presents and baking cookies for Politically correct holiday parties.
Christmas is all about Jesus Christ and His Holy and Wonderful Birth. He was born to die. He came to save us.
It is not about the latest fashion or toy or trend or really good food.
I don't even send Christmas cards anymore because it is one more avenue and way to brag about how great your kids are, what new item you bought for your house, and what exotic vacation you took.
I am really bothered that the Christmas spending/buying season begins right around Thanksgiving. And by the day after Christmas, all the decorations and trims are taken down and it is on to the next marketing ploy......St. Valentines Day, which has been kidnapped by the money mongers as well.
In my heart, we are currently in Advent and await the beginning of Christmas in 10 days. I plan to celebrate for the full 10 to 12 days after Christmas until Epiphany.
If one is really in tune with all the shopping jazz, you will be sick of Christmas carols by Christmas eve.
I just might be 'poor in spirit' because I really want the baby Jesus to be born in my heart this year. I want to move away from the world's view of Santa Claus and presents and gifts. I want to fully embrace Christ's Birth the way it was meant to be celebrated!!!

Night time
Last night I was awakened by our dog. Then it took me a few hours to fall back asleep.
I keep a rosary in my hand all night long and ask my dear Guardian Angel, Bruno, to say the Rosary for me, while I sleep.
It was while I was tossing and turning that a Heavenly thought came to pray for one of my sons. I decided to say Mother Teresa's 'Emergency Novena' of 9 Memorares. Within a split second I felt this overwhelming oppression hindering my prayers. I had great difficulty saying the Memorares, so I blessed myself with the sign of the Cross and said the sweet name of 'Jesus' several times.
Even now I am amazed at this event where this evil oppression was almost physical.

St. John the Baptist and workers
In yesterdays Gospel reading, Lue 3: 10-19, about people coming to John the Baptist and asking advice, a group of soldiers came as well. They ask, "Teacher, what should we do?" John responds, ".....be satisfied with your wages."
I have been pondering ever since about what would John the Baptist or Jesus would say to me and my husband right now. My husband is unemployed and trying to find another job that will pay the mortgage. I am working part time and like my job. But it is pretty lean around here. We live simply and have for many years. The cars are old and sometimes held together by duct tape. We are blessed with many children who are healthy and eat alot.
So I ask, Lord, what shall we do? My husband wants to and needs to work. You have been leading us deeper into your Eucharistic Heart, trusting you every step of the way. Do you provide all our needs, or will you do it through my husband and his labor? Lord, how shall we then live?
Jesus, I do trust in you. I am satisfied with my wages. Please help my husband, and all the other fathers/husbands who need to provide for their families. St. Joseph pray for us.

Give us this day
Upon meditating about the Lord's Prayer, God gave me a new understanding for the line:
Give us this day our daily bread
He asks: are you willing to receive everything I have for you today?
I used to think it just meant 'bread' or food or even the Holy Eucharist on a daily basis. But now I come to see this verse in a deeper way. Jesus asks if we can receive anything and everything from His hand, it all being for the benefit of our souls. Can I, will I receive the joy and the sorrow, that comes from Him?
I want to give him my fiat, my yes. I want to say, 'be it done unto me, according to your will.' I need to say it many times a day.

How to Use the Spiritual First Aid Kit
I should preface this by adding that I included a letter to the effect that:
you may not know what this is or may not want it. Tuck this kit away, for a day may come when you are in darkness and it will bring light; you may be afraid and it will bring courage; you may be despairing and it will bring hope. Know this: there is a God in Heaven and His Son Jesus and they love you very much."
How to use this Spiritual First Aid Kit
The Church in Wisdom give us visible signs of God’s Life and Grace found first in Jesus Christ, His Son, then in the Catholic Church He founded to lead people to Him and in Sacramentals, or items and prayers that are blessed. They are not magic formulas, rather combining with your own faith, even the size of a mustard seed, will bring you to Jesus, who is all Mercy. No one is rejected.
So cast your cares on Him, for He cares for YOU!!!
Blessed Beeswax Candles
Jesus is our light! But a blessed beeswax candle is a powerful sacramental to repel evil, including storms, and encourage the hope within us. Though the Blessed Beeswax Candle in your Spiritual First Aid Kit is small, do not be surprised in God intervenes so that His Light will continue to burn for you. Burn this candle when darkness, storm or trial oppress you.
Holy Water
Reminding us of the waters of our Baptism and that Jesus is the Living Water, frequently trace the sign of the cross with a few drops of Holy Water as you say, In the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Blessed Salt is also used to repel evil. Sprinkle it around doors and windows when you feel oppressed by evil or danger. You can also use a few grains in your cooking, which will aid in your physical and spiritual health.
St. Michael Prayer
Say it when you are frightened or in danger or being attacked in any way. St. Michael is one of the arch or ‘boss’ angels and will protect you. The prayer was composed by Pope Leo XIIII in 1884, after he had a vision of the Catholic Church being attacked, physically and spiritually.
Miraculous Medal
In 1830 a little French nun, Catherine Laboure was given a visit from Mary, the Mother of God, who wants to help us, her children, grow closer to Jesus. She asked a medal be made of this grace. The prayer on the medal says, O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. The medal brings about miracles of body and soul, whatever is in the best interest of your soul. Wear it around your neck!!

The Brown Scapular if worn with devotion comes with many graces, the first being release from Purgatory on the first Saturday after you die.
Purgatory is a place, verified in Scripture, though not by the same name, where we are purified of our sin. Otherwise we would burn because of
our sin at the presence of Almighty God. Wear the Brown Scapular around the neck or place it around the neck of someone who is on their deathbed and provide extraordinary grace for them.
Crucifix
The Crucifix is the image of Our Dear Lord upon His cross. He died a horrible death for us, to save us from our sins, which will take us to hell. There are many different representations of Jesus and His cross. Hang this Cross in your home, so He can watch over you and you can gaze at Him.

This large picture of Jesus shows red and white rays pouring from the wounds of His hands. The rays represent Grace and Mercy, and they are pouring upon the earth. Will we open our hands to receive His Grace and Mercy? Whenever you are perplexed, confounded, or afraid, cry out: “Jesus, I trust in You.” He will not fail you. Keep this picture somewhere in your home to remind you of His Great Love and Mercy for YOU!

gratitude
I have been following the writings of a 'lay apostle' named Anne, from Ireland.

Jesus has been speaking quietly in her soul for several years. Every first day of the month He gives her a message. But my heart says, "Oh my sweet Jesus, let me have an eternity with You to show You how much I am grateful to You, for your love of me!!"

LIfting our hearts to the Lord
The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is the greatest prayer we can pray.
The consecration of bread and wine into the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ is the Highlight of the Mass. He is the Food and Drink for our souls.
But my second favorite part of the Mass is when, just before the consecration, we respond to the Priests acclamation: "Lift up your hearts."
We respond: We lift them up to the Lord. I smile each time I say this, as I raise my eyes and hands to the Crucifix behind the Altar, because I verbally acknowledge my giving all of me to Jesus.
Brian and I have given everything to Jesus. We gave him our marriage, our children, our jobs, our home. We have held nothing back.
It is the greatest relief to know He holds everything in His hands. Actually it is more than relief, it is real joy. The world cannot understand this, but if they could what peace there would be.
Praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever.

I decided to start this blog as a record of spiritual impressions within my heart.
Last Sunday at Mass, I looked up at the Crucifix and felt within my heart so much love for Jesus, that I would crawl up onto the Cross with Him.
Since that is not possible, one way I can show Him my love is to accept all the trials and difficulties that He sends my way, for the good of my soul.
For years I have been declaring, 'All for Thee, O Sacred Heart of Jesus', whenever I face a sorrow, a difficulty, a frustration.
I have even learned to give Him my joys. Like working in the garden, or a happy day with my children, or a peaceful moment away with my husband, or seeing a beautiful vista.
God's signature is all over if we have the eyes to see.

All Hallow's Eve
The world knows it as Halloween. Little do they know it is the Eve of All Hallows or All Saints Day.
It has become an ugly day as evil is glorified. Except for the children; to them it is all about candy.
Because of God's mercy taking Brian and I deeper into the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus, we decided to stay home and indoors.
We closed the curtains and shades and just had candlelight. I even lit a Baptismal candle. After hamburgers we said our family Rosary. Oh the forces of good and evil that battle tonight.
After our Rosary we made hot fudge sundaes and watched a family movie, The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again.
Within the Home there is Light and Hope and Joy. Thank you Jesus.

A Day on the Journey
I have been journeying towards the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus for many years. But in His mercy my husband and I are growing in love with Him more every day.
As I was driving home from work today, I said a Rosary as I always do. I had more time so I also said a Chaplet of Divine Mercy.
I was impressed within my heart that I should not race through my prayers because I am talking to Jesus and Mary.
A couple of weeks ago as I said my Rosary, I was impressed within my heart that Mary, as mediatrix of all grace, was enabling me to pass grace onto all the people I prayed for. She as the Mother of God gives grace to us; we then pass the grace onto others.
That is why I love to offer intentions during any Rosary. Jesus' mercy is so great that I can offer dozens of intentions for 1 Hail Mary or 1 decade.
There is so much to pray for in the world today. We always pray for the end of abortion. And I always pray for my children, grand children, god children, our extended family and benefactors.
This being the Year of the Priest, we always pray for priests, seminarians, and boys within the home who could feel the call to the Priesthood.
Today as I prayed my Rosary, I was impressed within my heart that as Mary conceived Jesus in her womb, she conceives each of us in her heart. Oh what a wonderful Mother we have!
